Trails of Tears Introduction

This is a preview of the film "Trails of Tears," that is a comprehensive look at US history as told from some of the nation's leading academics, including Pulitzer-prize winning author Alan Taylor, world reknown intellectual Noam Chomsky and famous government whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg.

This 8 1/2 hour documentary attempts to place the current legal and political crisis facing the United States in a larger context of ideological, poltical, legal and military struggles taking place even before the United States was established as such. Perhaps at the end of this documentary, the question of "How did we get to this place?" will not appear so astounding.

All of the participants in this film have provided important parts of critical and, unfortunately, underpublicized aspects of US history. It is stongly encouraged that you purchase some of these academics' work, both to support their efforts, and to supplement the topics dicussed on this film, as fifteen to twenty minute discussions cannot due justice to the extensive treatments on the subjects addressed by the authors' respective works.
